Cultivars for commercial orchards and home gardens - 2024
A newer catalogue has been published, supplemented with cultivars for home gardens. It includes cultivars created in the breeding program of fruit trees, berry trees and vegetables at the Latvia Institute of Horticulture (LatHort). Here you can view the digital version of the catalogue (in Latvian) with the cultivars of LatHort for commercial orchards and home gardens - 2024.
In it you will find information about 36 apple tree cultivars, 4 pear cultivars, 6 plum cultivars, 7 sweet cherry cultivars, 6 apricot cultivars, 5 Japanese quince (Chaenomeles japonica) cultivars, 2 raspberry cultivars, as well as 3 blackcurrant cultivars, 2 gooseberry cultivars, and one melon winter garlic variety each.
In 2024, 40 varieties were registered and are protected in the name of the Latvia Institute of Horticulture (LatHort), another 30 cultivars have been submitted for registration, see information "Registration of protected plant varieties of Latvia". To propagate these cultivars and varieties, nurseries must enter into a licensing agreement with the Institute of Horticulture.
