Gardens for wellbeing and health
Scientific research on the beneficial effects of nature on humans has been conducted at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). A therapeutic garden incorporating horticultural plants of Arctic origin has been created at the Loue learning center in Lappia in collaboration with scientists. It puts into practice insights into nature’s ability to reduce stress and improve health.

Themed trails with special tasks that help visitors better perceive and become aware of natural processes have been developed at the Institute of Horticulture and in the Aukštaitija Protected area near lake Širvena.

The Japanese-style garden at the Klaipeda Pedagogical and Psychological Service Center provides a peaceful environment for therapeutic sessions for children with attention deficit disorders and offers a space for relaxation for parents, visitors, and staff.

At the Institute of Horticulture, visitors can participate in garden therapy sessions guided by a certified nature guide upon prior registration.

Outdoor yoga classes and other physical activities take place at the Elonkierto Park and the Institute of Horticulture.

In Birzai District Municipality, next to the renovated hospital grounds in A. Dauguvietis Park, sports equipment with training programs and animations — featuring video and audio tutorials for proper use — is available. Videos can be accessed using the QR code on the equipment.
